Objective

Developing a brand identity versatile enough to resonate with both hunters and non-hunters. 

Challenge

Finding a visual language that speaks to both hunters, who may appreciate more traditional and rugged aesthetics, and non-hunters, who may prefer modern and minimalist designs. 

Brief

Yost European Mounts is a new business that aims to capture the essence of nature’s beauty through expert taxidermy services. The owner’s mission is to cater to both hunters and non-hunters alike, offering a diverse range of services that celebrate wildlife in all of its forms.

Keywords

The keywords I’ve chosen are meant to resonate with both hunters and non-hunters. It’s important that both sides can feel a connection with the brand.

Moodboard

The Moodboard is put together with a focus on connection, tradition, memories, respect, and artistry. I believe these words best emphasize the positive reasons people choose the process of taxidermy.

Wordmark

The E in European was lowered to the x-height to present a uniform base for Yost.

Yost and Mounts extend out equal distances from European to create balance in the layout.

Logomark

The shape of the middle section for the deer head naturally lends itself to the first letter in the owner’s name. I chose to exaggerate on this effect and really play into the letter Y.   

Orange

Commonly associated with the hunting culture.

Cream

Conveys a since of naturalness and neutrality, along with offering a balance between the vibrancy of orange and boldness of black.

Black

Gives a strong contrast to orange, while adding elegance and professionalism.

By honoring wildlife, we acknowledge the beauty and importance of each individual animal. At the same time, the phrase "Preserving Memories" speaks to the emotional significance that our taxidermy work holds for our clients. Whether it's commemorating a successful hunt or preserving a cherished encounter with wildlife, our goal is to capture these moments with integrity and reverence.

Typography

Adobe Garamond Pro

Adobe Garamond Pro works well for this design because it conveys a since of tradition, while offering modern design capabilities and readability. The font strikes a nice balance between new and old which plays well with the continued intention of attracting a broader client base.

The stylescape uses ideas of tradition, artistry, and respect to further develop the brand in a direction that will capture the attention of both hunter and non-hunter alike.

The merchandising offers two options. The first is a simple clean look of which focuses on the initial concepts that helped build the brand. The other has fun playing with an artsy style camoflouge meant to extend to a broader audience.
